Nursing students at Humber College have organized a mental health and wellness fair for peers coping with stress.
Be Kind To Your Mind, is an initiative organized to educate college students on how to cope with stress caused by balancing school, work and other personal issues. Students will also be able to explore the different resources that are offered on and off campus to help them in their journey to mental well being.
Conveniently enough, the fair will occur during midterm and exam season for some students; which was delayed due to the month long strike that occurred back in October.
“We had the event planned out since September,” says Venus Joy David, coordinator and third year nursing student. “However, we are hoping that students find use in the information and resources being provided through our fair to aid themselves and their peers when going through stressful events, especially during this time.”
Though this is the first year the fair will make a debut, David has high hopes for the future of this event. “We are hoping that the event can be sustained and potentially become an annual event through our student developed resource list, community partners, and initiative through our Jack.org petition.”
This event is welcomed to all Humber and Guelph Humber students. It will be held Thursday, December 14th in the L- Building of the North Campus.
