Saudi-led coalition threatens Iran

The Saudi Arabia-led coalition threatened military retaliation against Iran on Sunday following the latest missile attack from Yemen carried out by Houthi rebels the day before.

The multinational coalition against the Houthi insurgency in Yemen, an insurgency the coalition considers to be backed by Iran, said the missile attack was a “clear act of aggression” that could be considered “an act of war”.

Saudi Arabia “reserves its right to respond to Iran in the appropriate time and manner” in moves considered self-defense, said the coalition statement.

The nine-member Saudi-led coalition is made up of Bahrain, Kuwait, Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, Senegal, Sudan and unofficially Qatar.

The coalition also temporarily closed all Yemeni ground, air and sea ports to prevent the smuggling of weaponry.
